In his first big competition he had a big win: Jamel won the 2007 Belgium Championship in Spa and pocketed (as well as the title), over €300,000! And so his poker career began.
Jamel Maistriaux gave himself a year to continue playing and to explore the big international competitions, and he made the right choice. In June 2008 he left for Las Vegas to compete in a series of tournaments counting towards the WSOP and gave a great performance. In the 6 competitions he competed in, he won silver four times, and finishing 23rd from more than 2,300 players in one event!
Jamel continued his rise in the poker world when he came 6th in the €200 No Limit Hold'em in the Irish Winter Festival in October 2008. The game was particularly interesting because the 2007 Belgian Champion found himself playing against Pascal Perrault, another member of Team770. His last great finish was at the Deauville EPT, where Jamel came 5th in the side event of 250 players, winning €12,000 in the process.
It looks like Jamel has a bright future, and by joining Team770, he will be able to use his talent in the next big poker competitions worldwide!
Good luck from everyone at Team770!
